UXO avoidance is a combination of techniques employed by UXO personnel at sites with known or suspected OE contamination. The purpose of this service is to avoid any potential surface or subsurface anomalies during sampling activities. Intrusive investigation of anomalies is not conducted during UXO avoidance operations.

The level of UXO avoidance support required will vary with the level of activities occurring on a site; multiple activities will require multiple UXO avoidance support.
